Fire claims Santa Clara family's dog
SANTA CLARA The fire that destroyed a Santa Clara home Monday also took the life of one of the family's dogs, a Chihuahua named "Chico pero Pelioso" meaning "small but feisty." The family's other dog, Chewy, a Lhasa Apso, was pulled from the fire and given mouth-to-mouth resuscitation at the scene by Santa Clara Police Chief Paul Jasso.

It's all about the noise. As the sale of fireworks kicked off Saturday in preparation for the celebration of the Fourth of July, the town council is considering proposing an ordinance for next year that would ban the sale and use of certain types of fireworks.
