Fiery crash damages I-465 pavement

Public safety briefs: Decomposed body found
INDEPENDENCE | Police are investigating after a man and woman looking for scrap metal Wednesday found a decomposing body behind a vacant Independence appliance store.
Police responded about 2 p.m. to the 8900 block of U.S. 24 and were directed to a steep ravine.
'As they were digging around through some old metal appliances that had been dumped back there, they discovered the body,' police spokesman Tom Gentry said.
Police think the body is that of a man, but they were unsure because it had partly decomposed. A cause of death was unknown. The Jackson County medical examiner's office is expected to perform an autopsy. Read more

Boil order begins Friday in Archie
Residents of Archie in Cass County will awaken Friday to a boil order for their drinking water.
The order will remain in effect for an estimated 10 days while the city repairs a concrete basin in its treatment plant, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources said today.
Residents will have water, but it will not have been properly treated so it must be boiled before drinking, officials said. Read more
