Grocery chain's performance questioned

There is not a store in Covina, there is however a store in West Covina.

The shelves in the Palm Desert store were half empty. It was like England during the war!

Not interested in using an automated checkout.

Problem is that the store is no better than the Trader Joe's down the street (in Monrovia), workers don't seem to be customer service oriented, and the basic plastic shelves with food displayed in cardboard boxes cries out "cheap warehouse store!"
The prepared meals are not bad but nothing here makes me want to give up TJ's.

I think the Fresh & Easy is good for the re-growing US ecomony, they offer good food at good prices.

I went in there today and it was a nice change, would agree that they don't market themselve much as it was purely by chance I found a store.

It will make the other move on price and may be for some of the larger retailers it will be enough to tidy up the store. The Fresh & Easy one was really clean and nothing scattered on the floor.

I agree, they are on the same wave as TJ's - but alot cheaper. If the staff became a little more friendly and they stopped stacking like a warehouse it would look alot better. My relations took me to a Tesco in the UK when I visited last fall, it was near Cardiff and I was very impressed as it felt more like a WalMart with the huge range. Why can't the Fresh & Easy stores look like that!
