Frank Girardot: Missing cop case ends, to no surprise

“We emotionally said goodbye when his car was found in January and bloodhounds tracked him to the gravel pit. It was pretty clear to us then that he was gone.”

The discovery of a missing Pasadena police lieutenant's decomposed body is one of those head scratchers that come along every now and again on the police beat. via Pasadena Star-News

Regarding the article on David Henry Richter by Frank Girardot:

I somehow find the tone of Girardot's familiarity and casualness offensive. That the reporter would presume to be on a first name basis with the father, Dr. Henry Ricter, of the deceased and apparently not report but narrate remarks of a 'personal' relationship should be made known to the readership. Barring such a relationship, I feel that the reporter crossed a line he should not have crossed. Further, the casualness of his so-called reporting smacks of laziness.

I would like to know how his dead body could be laying there so long and no one smelled anything. I go right past there everyday on my way to work . I know dead bodies smell real bad and I never smelled anything. You would think the people who work at the boat store right there would have smelled it also.

it makes no sense if they searched there before and they found nothing and all of a sudden they find the body after an insese search......kind of strange don't you think?
