A number of small communities struggle economically. An NDSU Extension program called Horizons is helping 21 towns find ways to reduce poverty and improve leadership.

Golfing usually means moving thousands of yards over 18 holes that has 'par' around 72! But a man with North Dakota ties has a more impressive number.

When the local town's people erected a sign outside their small city a few years ago, they added a towering figure.

The male moose mascot of a tiny North Dakota town has a mate, and she's the city's namesake.

Joe the Moose has long been the mascot on the sign leading into Anamoose, in north-central North Dakota. But officials of the town of about 260 decided to give him a mate, Ana, and held a mock wedding Saturday in celebration.

Maury Becker, a resident who acted as minister of the ceremony, told the guests he was joining Joe and Ana 'in an estate of continual turmoil,' and officially declared them 'miserable mates.'

ANAMOOSE Normally, if a wedding guest whispered to the new bride that she looked like a moose, the guest could expect to get more than his or her share of wedding cake.

A North Dakota native has come home once again to teach alternative healing... Constance Rose, originally of Anamoose, now lives in Maui and is back again in the state to teach Reiki.
