Aldermen OK bid for initial Dove Creek restoration work
Seven years after Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee damaged Dove Creek in Amsterdam, city officials are proceeding with the initial phase of a project to replace retaining walls and further stabilize the waterway. The Amsterdam Common Council voted 3-0 Tuesday evening to award the general construction contract for the Dove Creek Channel Improvement Project First Phase to Herkimer-based Marcy Excavation Services, who submitted the lowest bid at $732,580.
