A win for the water

Critics of the Suffolk County Legislature like to say it's too quick to sue. But it sued the oil industry for fouling our water with the oxygenating gasoline additive MTBE, and now it gets the last laugh. via Newsday.com

The environmental lobby forced the use of MTBE, they should be sued. Now we have ethanol another additive disaster, increases pollution, increases the cost of gas, and increases the cost of the food supply and diverts the food into fuel, resulting in more world hunger.

Get rid of this additive also.

The government orders the industry to put in addatives then sues them for doing it. The people get sick from it and the government keeps the money. My friends this form of government has run its course and no longer works.

The SCWA IS the County ... just another "Authority" of it .... Stop making it look like they are not connected ! As far as Ethanol being just as bad as MTBE .... only for the FOOD industry that we all have to pay more for all our food products . Let's get that switch grass ethanol going and at least use a waste product of our food chain !

Exactly, what part of this story is missing? Oil companies are the first to be blamed. High price of fuel, where's the story on the banks, who are are borrowing money at 2%, then investing those monies in commodities ( such as oil)driving the price up in speculation. They have to make back the money lost in fraudulant, no doc and no money down home loans. It seems the media is only interested in finding a scapegoat, not in finding the real cause of the problems. Especially when it doesn't fit their agenda. Can't blame the real estate ind.( advertising dollars) can't blame the banks ( future foreclosure advertising dollars).

yes contamination from differant industries is bad, but the biggest contamination of long island water is from cesspools lets close them all. wastewater treatment is the most environmentally safe way to keep our aqufers clean. WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT THEN OUR DRINKING WATER!
