why is it illegal ? if it is a one way street would it would not be illegal to park that way.

Or is it because they parked drivers side to the curb in front of a home ?

Loaded gun in vehicle, hum. NYSTate Penal code 265, cites possession of firearm ( any gun or revolver) in a vehicle as being illegal, one of 4 felonies of which I can't recall.

Having any ammunition in the car, AND that doesn't have to physically inside the gun/ revolver/pistol, but just anywhere inside or outside of the vehicle they are driving, is considered to be a "loaded firearm".

Having a firearm, loaded or not, is considered to be unlawful possession with intent to use it unlawfully in some act, just by having it.
IF the JUDGE wants to, he can really throw the book at these guys.

But, NY Courts appear to have room for plea bargaining, so the punishment won't fit the laws violated.
That is why gun crimes continue, because the system is half hearted in exacting the punishment per the law.
And that is why legal gun owners are conveniently looked upon as part of the problem even though they haven't broken any laws. It is easy to punish the lawful ones, to appear as tough on crime.
Not to worry, the State Legislature has a vast number of draft anti gun bills ready for passing, to "fight crime". Oops, the ones like these guys, who broke the laws, didn't even know they broke the laws because they don't read them, so the didn't "knowingly break the laws."
