Several new books and movies have been added to the library shelves. The summer reading program, a oeBe Creative at Your Library, will begin June 4 and end July 9. A variety of activities for children from the age of two years through sixth grade will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. each Thursday.

By The Emporia Gazette Friday, May 8, 2009 With reports of more than 6 inches of rain near Americus and water over the Kansas Turnpike, officials have made these announcements: a Madison-Virgil school district closed today; a North Lyon County schools, 1 hour delay with reports that Americus is isolated by flooding to the east, west and south.
