A 27-year-old Bayou Vista woman was arrested Tuesday by a St. Mary Parish Sheriff's deputy for obstruction of justice after she claimed she struck a man with her fist at a park, but video surveillance indicated that her statement was false, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert.

The St. Mary public school system's three maintenance districts together approved $2.5 million in maintenance and capital projects this week.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests this morning: Ivy Hebert Sr., 41, of McArthur Street, Baldwin, was arrested Tuesday at 3:27 p.m. on warrants charging him with failure to appear on charges of criminal neglect of family.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests: -Irvin Jermaine Escort, 33, of Mallard Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:17 p.m. Monday for driving under suspension, exceeding the maximum speed limit and driving left of center.

Mary Parish Sheriff's Office. As the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver made eye contact with the deputy and accelerated the vehicle driving away from the scene.
