Reality TV Star Accused of Holding Art Hostage

Former "Real Housewives" star Aviva Drescher and her husband, Reid, are attempting to shake down a Long Island artist who lent them his work, but from whom they now seek a "commission" for the sale of one of the pieces, a lawsuit claims. In a complaint filed in New York State Supreme Court, plaintiff Matthew Satz, of Amagansett, says he met Drescher and her husband, the managing member of Cape One Financial Advisors, through a mutual acquaintance, and in June 2013 agreed to install five of his original artworks in their Upper West Side apartment.

Bail Twice Raised After F.B.I. Report

A young man whose employer had brought him to Amagansett to work for the season was charged with driving while intoxicated on Sunday evening and, on Monday, with false personation, for giving a fake name to police officers. Walter Joaquin Victoriano, 20, a Mexican citizen who first identified himself as DeJesus Victoriano, told East Hampton Town police his real name after his arraignment, while he was waiting to be taken to jail in Riverside if bail were not posted.

A proposed East Hampton Town rental registry drew a number of property owners to the Amagansett Citizens Advisory Committee's meeting on Monday, many of them concerned about its potential impact. Residents of the hamlet have long complained about overcrowded group houses in the summer, frequent turnover of tenants, and attendant noise, traffic, and other disturbances to the peaceful enjoyment of their own properties.

Showtime Green-Lighted for Next Shoot

A location manager for the Showtime TV program, "The Affair," which is set in these parts and is completing the filming of episodes for its first season, got a decidedly better reception this week than the last time he spoke to the East Hampton Town Board seeking a permit for a film shoot during the height of the season. Andrew Poppoon reviewed plans for filming in Amagansett and Montauk on Monday through Friday at a town board meeting on Tuesday, and board members agreed to issue a film permit.

The financial affairs of the East Hampton Town Trustees, who own much of the common lands and waterways in town on behalf of the public, were front and center in August, as the town looks ahead to a new fiscal year in January. The East Hampton Town Board allots about half the trustees' annual budget each year - it was $251,456 this year - while other revenue comes from fees, including those for mooring or docking in waters under their jurisdiction, and from leases of trustee land at Lazy Point in Amagansett.
