Remember people, it wasn't a tornado at all, it was a "micro-burst"
Rather strange and who knows? But Otero County was under a Tornado Watch at the time and several people in the area reported seeing funnel clouds.

Microbursts are recognized as capable of generating wind speeds higher than 75 m/s (168 mph; 270 km/h).
