Oh, say, can that Sanford woman sing
For the rest of us, it's merely a difficult song to sing. For Catina Mack, it's the only one to sing.

Wow she is very good.
Happy 4th to all Americans, Democrats and Republicans. |

I heard Catina Mack on Magic 107.7 FM very early this morning and she was fantastic. I will be in Sanford, Friday the 4th to hear the National Anthem as it was meant to be sung. I hope everyone has a great time and our soldiers overseas etc. know our prayers are with them and their families.

What a great start to the day!
Just what we needed to remember the heart of this country. Sure we have out flaws, and we get wrapped around the axle sometimes, but we are America. |
|
This is patriotism! We should all love our country and be willing to sing about it, even if we don't sing quite as well as she does. Or at least speak well of it.

She does it right. She sings the song straight up with no pop diva flourishes and showmanship. A great voice and people can even sing (OUR song) along with her. God bless her and God bless America.

Sorry, when it's time to sing the "National" anthem it's not time to make an social or political statement. Big error in judgement. Big mistake. And just furthers the separation of races instead of uniting.

I am almost inclined to agree with Crackeh in asking if you are talking about THIS woman's performance of our National Anthem? What "error in judgement" are you talking about? It has been written into the Congressional Record exactly how the song is to be performed, which includes the key (A flat major) and "as written without added notes or flourishes". This performance was one of the few heard in todays world that follows those guidelines. I agree with Major Tom that "The Star Spangled Banner" is OUR song and it was a pleasure to hear members of the audience joining in as she sang. As I type this I am listening to the "Star Spangled Fourth" from Washington, DC. I do not know the performer who opened with "The Star Spangled Banner", but I would rather hear the woman from Sanford. So I am wondering N Waff - Did you hear to the same performance that I heard? |

A correction to my previous post. Instruction for performance of "The Star Spangled Banner" is found in the United Stated Code, Title 36, Chapter 3. And I apologize to Catina Mack for not stating her name. My congratulations to her for a CORRECT performance of MY (OUR) NATIONAL ANTHEM. I hope she continues to share her musical talent in this very patriotic way

I would like to thank all of you for your sweet comments about my performance of our National Anthem. Some of your comments brought me to tears.
I started performing our Anthem over 13 years ago. It has been imperative that I share the importance of performing it only in the traditional manner. I plan to do this for a very long time and hope to encourage other performers to sing it in this fashion, also. Please feel free to visit my website at www.CatinaMack.com , which has more videos, pictures & my resume. I am singing a lot in Florida and have a few events coming up for our Troops - the U.S. Military All Stars next week and for our Veterans in November. You may drop me a line anytime or sign up for my newsletter to be notified of where I will be singing next. You may also check out the following link to read the article posted in The Sanford Herald on July 2nd. This article gives a little more specific information on what I have done. The link is http://www.mysanfordherald.com/articles/2008/... . Next week, I will be posting my videos from the two 4th of July events I performed for this year (what an honor!)...Sanford Riverwalk at Ft. Mellon Park in Sanford (7/4) and Red, Hot & Boom at Crane's Roost Park in Altamonte (7/3). I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July!!:) GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS and bless you for appreciating our Anthem!!:) |
