Altamonte cop, wife charged in drug plot

Clay Adams lived two lives: one as an Altamonte Springs cop, the other as a painkiller-addicted, marijuana grow-house operator who was scheming to kill a former supervisor.

I wonder if there is more to this story. Based on what the statements here, it looks like these two were just getting started on their first grow house. It seems doubtful. ASPD - You have my confidence. One bad apple does not apply in this situation. Keep up the good work!

I hope this couple did not have any children that would be left as orphans. It's a slippery slope when cops go bad. What were they thinking?

You work hard where? Being a cop is not hard work. It is a lazy man's job. Ride around in a new car with the A/C and music playing. Got the computer to send out your email and look at God knows what on the net.

A kid working a weed eater all day works. A carpenter building a house, works. Jobs like these are work. Riding around on a 8 hour shift is not work. It is just showing up.

WAY OFF BASE. In today's society, a Law Enforcement Officer may be asked to risk his very life on any given moment of his shift. Every Day. What is your problem? Did you get a legitimate speeding ticket this week?

Idiots like "really concerned citizen" are not even worth responding too. I have not heard of any weed eater operators being killed in the line of duty lately but whatever. This is a discrace and I hope they both get prosecuted to the fullest extent.

Wow! I feel bad for the Altamonte Police that they had to work with this guy.

What a phyco!

Well the system worked. We can say the Altamonte Police are not corrupt like say New York PD in the 70's.

I think this police officer was stupid where in the scheme of things did he think he would not be caught? It is sad to think that a police officer would do this. Drugs invade every area of life I guess. I hate to think what will happen to him when he gets to prison it won't be a joy ride for sure.

This kind of thing goes on all the time in the Orange County Sheriff's Office. Just look at Kevin Beary, one of the biggest criminals I know. Of course there was his buddy, Captain Victor Thomas trafficking cocaine in a OCSO patrol car.

Let's be real here, we (cops) dont risk our lives on a daily basis. Not even in extremely violent metro areas. It is an occasional occurrence. There is a lot of just driving around and observing that goes on. I'm not disputing that it does happen only that it doesnt happen as often as some people say it does. And yes this is a disgrace to law enforcement in central Florida. How can we expect people to trust officers when the community sees this stuff going on? Our focus needs to be on integrity and the major crime issues facing our society and less focus on things like Dui.

Please, if you're reading this Mr. Adams, contact me. I would be happy to represent you, and will give you the same expert legal advise I am currently giving my one other client, Ms. Casey Anthony.

Read what I said regarding at any moment. I Never said you were risking your life every day, I said that as a part of the job a Law Enforcement Officer may have to risk his life at any given moment. There is a difference. For the record, I am not a Law Enforcement Officer. I do however understand some of what the job might entail.

To all the good officers out there - THANK YOU for your efforts.

Thank you for your honesty. All the cops I know are human and deserve neither a pedestal or to be looked down on.

That said I think they do deserve whatever perks they are gladly given by businesses in the areas they patrol,, and the bad ones should be held to a higher standard, given stiffer punishments, when caught being dirty.

I am embarrassed to be an Altamonte Springs Citizen. The ASPD has a reputation for embarrassing itself, which reflects on the citizens of the city. This is not the first corrupt officer in this department and I have a strong feeling he will not be the last. Let's take a second to reflect on some of Altamonte's finest...Hawkins, caught in bed with two minors! What about the two that were robbing banks, what were there names? What about the infidelities of many of their officers, even while on duty. There is a fine line between upholding the law and breaking the law. It sounds like to many years on the force teaches officers to become criminals. For each one that is caught, how many are not? Chief, I think it is time you hold some intense training on morals, good character, and the difference between right and wrong!!!!

Dumb*** is right. I think that is a requirement for being an officer now. Stupidity and arrogance. Those who are not smart enough to get away with being criminals, become cops. Why do men become cops? To serve and protect, NOT. To control and legally bully people!!!!

Amen. Whenever a cop gets busted these forums soon turn into an ugly diatribe against police by some people. Let me point out that TWO Florida cops have been shot and killed (Ft. Myers and Ft. Walton Beach) this past week while simply doing their job.
