Commission OKs purchase of vehicle tax estimator

“Who participates could create a bookkeeping nightmare or could solve our bookkeeping problems”

Wabaunsee County residents soon will be able to go online to estimate their vehicle taxes.

Treasurer Linda Coon spoke with Wabaunsee County Commissioners Monday about the program, which her office was familiar with through other treasurers' offices in Kansas.

"It's just something some of the county treasurers do so they (constituents) can have an idea what the vehicle is going to cost them before they come in," Coon said.

She said the initial set-up fee is $250, along with a $200 annual maintenance fee, and she said the funding for the program will come out of the motor vehicle fund. Read more
