A long-time minister in eastern Kentucky is dead after he was involved in a traffic accident.

John R. Pelphrey 81, years old, of Allen, Ky., was pronounced dead at the scene by Floyd County Coroner Greg Nelson after he attempted to pull across the southbound lanes of U.S.23 driving a 2008 Toyota Rav 4 and collided with Terri L. Edwards of Prestonsburg, KY.
