TV ads focus on Huckabee's role in freeing convicted rapist
“When candidates and these 527s ... get so desperate that they will exploit the victim of a crime. ... How low does politics have to go before we finally say enough?”
The bitter dispute over former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee's role in the release of a convicted rapist has moved onto TV screens in South Carolina.
A new 60-second ad sponsored by a group called Victims Voice made its debut on cable TV there Thursday night. It features Lois Davidson of Adrian, Mo., whose daughter, Carol Sue Shields, was murdered in the Kansas City area in 2000.
Davidson and others say that Huckabee played an important role in the 1999 release of Shields' killer -- a convicted rapist named Wayne DuMond -- from an Arkansas prison. Read more
