Garrett Murder Suspect To Be Tried Elsewhere
The murder trial of a Garrett County man will be held in another county due to heavy local publicity about the case.
Circuit Judge Gary Leasure has granted a defense motion for a change of venue in the second-degree murder case against 52-year-old Norris Rush. The new location hasn't been announced.
Rush is accused of shooting his friend, 29-year-old David Lancaster, during a drunken altercation at Rush's home near Accident in December 2006.
Rush is the brother-in-law of Garrett County Sheriff Gary Berkebile. The family connection has prompted Lancaster's family to publicly question the thoroughness of a deputy's investigation. Read more
