Full story: Chicago Sun-Times

Some of you didn't get why the dress code -- which led to six Washington University students being banned from the Original Mother's bar on Rush Street -- sparked an outcry.

Until the day the City of Chicago or the Federal Government ponies up money to become my business partner, I will run my bar the way I see fit, which includes protecting my patrons and myself from any liabilities.

Call me racist (and you would be wrong) but as I see it I have never seen a gang fight break out with people dressed in proper attire.

Since you are licensed both locally and federally. your business is liable to all anti-discrimination laws. This includes freedom of speech which may include the way anyone dresses. You, as a licensee are not above the law. You also are in dire need of a name change as you are not very logical.

I say if you enforce it in ONE bar, enforce it in EVERY bar in CHICAGO. What is wrong with proper dressing? I personally believe they need to concentrate on how "women" dress entering the bars. Hell, half of them dress like hookers.. that's where the trouble starts. Think about that!!!

As long as the dress code is enforced the same, regardless of race, and posted clearly I don't see why an establishment shouldn't be able to set guidelines. It has to be enforced no matter what color someone's skin color is, though. And no exceptions allowed.
Enforce it equally.

Freedom of speech? Not in the case of private business. The only entity that is required to allow freedom of speech is the government. Private business have LOTS of leeway as to what they will allow and what they won't.

It is quite obvious you are the one who lacks sense as discrimination laws are opinionated and have a million loop holes. You should try and study up on something before you respond. As far as requirements for state and local licensing there is nothing in my license that says I don't have the right to set policy as I see fit.
