DNR Plans to Poison Chicago Canal

I'd like to know what action they'll be taking to make sure the poison is contained in the area in which they'll be applying it.

It won't be. They'll apply it at a significant rate at the furthest point upstream to be treated after calculating how far it will have to travel downstream to become diluted enough to lose its toxicity. Things are not going to be pretty along that stretch of river for a couple of months. Depending on what they use, they could knock out some of the gulls that frequent that area as well because those things will definitely attempt to eat the newly killed fish.

IT WONT take to LONG ,... the carp will be right back,.... an empty river will atract even more fish,...

What will this do to the canal's thriving tourist industry? Oh well, Romeoville's loss will be Stickney's gain.

Hope they get the Silver Carp issue under control...has anyone seen them up in Wisconsin or Michigan yet???

How many stray animals and pets are going to drink the water? How about pet dogs swimming in this water? Every fisherman knows that goldfish are algae eaters...this is their main diet. Think about that...
