AFRICA: Congo cancer conference urges action

DOLISIE, 24 December 2012 - Over 150 experts from seven African countries - Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo , Gabon, Cte d'Ivoire, Senegal, Burkina Faso and Cameroon - are calling on African governments to implement national plans to combat cancer.

The refugee status of 9,500 people from the Republic of Congo, who have been in neighbouring Gabon since the late 1990s, expired on 31 July, but many are still reluctant to return home.
