CFL roundup: QB Mitchell hurt in Stampeders' win over Argos

The Calgary Stampeders beat the Toronto Argonauts 40-33 with a tremendous second half Saturday, but another starting quarterback in the CFL is injured. Trailing by 19 points at halftime, Calgary rallied with four touchdowns and a pair of two-point converts to remain atop both the CFL and West Division standings at 10-1.

Glenn ends Lions TD drought in 26-9 win-Image1

Glenn threw for 261 yards and two TDs as the Lions downed the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 26-9 on Saturday night at B.C. Place Stadium. The Lions failed to score a touchdown in their 7-5 win a week earlier over Ottawa.

QB Willy's injury to be examined by doctors

Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Drew Willy will be examined by doctors in Winnipeg on Sunday as the club attempts to determine the extent of an injury Willy sustained to his right throwing shoulder in a 26-9 Bombers loss to the B.C. Lions here at BC Place Saturday night. Bombers head coach Mike O'Shea said after the game Saturday night that he didn't yet know the extent of the injury, but sources told the Free Press that an initial examination suggested the injury was not season-ending for the Bombers starting QB.

Stampeders deliver amazing comeback in win over Argonauts

According to TSN , the Calgary Stampeders registered one of the most amazing comebacks in franchise history Saturday night at McMahon Stadium. After trailing 29-3 to the Toronto Argonauts in the second quarter, the Stampeders marched back in the second half with four touchdowns en route to a 40-33 victory.

Mike O'Shea is staying on message - completely 100 per-cent on message - as his 6-5 football club travels to Vancouver to face the 6-4 B.C. Lions in what will determine fourth place, and possibly the CFL's crossover playoff spot, in the ultra-competitive West Division. Adjustments continue for Dressler

Stuart's the fly in the ointment

The former city entomologist says he's about to throw his name in the ring for the River Heights-Fort Garry council seat occupied by five-year incumbent John Orlikow. Stuart, who worked as Winnipeg's chief bug-fighter from 2004 to 2013, said he plans to register his campaign and submit nomination papers on Saturday, three days before the deadline for council candidates to reserve a space on the Oct. 22 ballot.

Cornish named top Canadian for week 11

According to the Canadian Press , Calgary Stampeders running back Jon Cornish of New Westminster, British Columbia was named the top Canadian for week 11 of the 2014 Canadian Football League regular season schedule on Tuesday. In Calgary's 41-34 win on Saturday from Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Cornish ran the ball for 109 yards and a touchdown and recorded another seven yards receiving.
