They cut their own lines? Figures..Good job..Morons. They need to give those people a discount. It is sad enough that we have to deal with them-now they ruin their own wires?

Try cleaning up your dirty mind first. You're apparently swimming in a cess~pool. Are you even aware that things happen in life that does'nt require a response, especially an ignorant one. Keep it closed and you never have to worry about backlash. |

Clean The Gene Pool wrote: From the article: "Isle of Wight resident Marshall Clarke was on the phone about 11:30 a.m. when his line went dead. He lost his security system with the outage. He used his cell phone to try to call the sheriff and local state police offices, and those lines were all dead." Okay, since when does a minor telephone outage justify frantic attempts to dial every law enforcement office around him? The idiot was probably masturbating to some phone sex line and got **** because he lost his wood. If he had gotten through, he would have been taking valuable time away from the dispatcher, who might have been delayed on something important, like a person with a heart attack! All because he decided to give them the "breaking news" that the lines were out. The emergency centers were more than aware of the situation, since the consoles report the status of the lines to the dispatchers. So the instant Verizon screwed up, they all got an error message on their screens informing them of the apparent loss of their phone lines. Can anyone here legitimately justify trying to call county and state PD just because your phone lines quit working? To both of you: Quit being immature. |

The service was out for a few hours and then restored big deal. When your electricity goes out it gets restored ASAP. I think both companys do a good job. If I have any complaint about Verizon (and it actually started in 1984 with the devestiture of the AT&T and Bell Operating companys) is that it is no longer a sevice company as it was under C&P but as all other business it is a PROFIT company. If you have to wait a week or more to get your service installed or moved to another address so what? If when you call the business office and all you can get is a recorded voice telling you your OPTIONS and all you want to do is speak to a human so what? It sure isnt the company I grew up with but then no one these days have party lines either.

When the landline telephone service went out, I assumed somebody cut lines they weren’t supposed to especially w/ all the construction around. Second guess would have been a car accident hitting telephone equipment, except non Verizon customers still had internet and cable services. I knew the landline telephone issue would be fixed at some point whatever the reason.
If I were going to call anyone, I would have called Verizon. I would never have thought to call all local and state law enforcement offices! I’ll have to agree w/ the other poster: Marshall Clarke is an idiot! Had he been able to get threw, he could have been tying up lines for real urgent and legitimate emergencies. I’ll have to check, but I bet he’s one of those crisis whackos that call the police on every little issue. Marshall Clarke must have sought out the Daily Press as well. Let’s hope in the future that he doesn’t needless tie up any much needed lines and services for those that are really in dire need! |

You are obviously not a Verizon stock or share holder. Where have you been? Minimize expenses & maximize profits. That's how successful businesses make profits! Verizon stock & share holders must be happy w/ the cutbacks or he'd be out of a job. |
maximize there profits and stock options not the people who did the job for them. |

I finally got through to Verizon's customer service from my cell phone, and had a good chuckle when the automated response said that my service would be restored by... 10:00 am Tuesday, March 20th! 4 days?! Hooo! Good one, Verizon, and not all that surprising. Thankfully, it was within 4 hours after all, not 4 days.
