First of all, I dont care what Mackies says about GM. Gm really had NOTHING to do with us drivers being let go.Mackies knew along time ago that the auto industry was lagging and started to get other forms of work. IE: rolltite, groceries, etc etc. 1 of the new customers in pickering is so busy and Mackies says they have NO work from them, this is because the so called VP of transportation will not budge on prices, nor will he make a honest effort to secure work. This is another way they came up with to help drive the company drivers out.The true colors really came out at the protest when the VP of transportation called us "retards".
Just before the layoffs, they hired "temp" workers in the warehouse to avoid offering the drivers those positions which they are bound to do.laying off company drivers other than by seniority is against the collective contract. Yet they did this, they are NOT above the law, but they think they are.Mackies hired this so called "union buster" who, from what i've seen is a joke. This man cannot even bring a pen or paper to a meeting.(lawyer type). I for one DO NOT plan on going back to a company who cares about nothing but makeing sure their lawn and gardners get paid.I will put a thorn every chance I can into Mackies! COMPANY DRIVERS MADE THEM WHAT THEY ARE TODAY!Im sure if any one of us drivers went into the VP of transportation's office and gave him a neck rub like we all have seen dispatchers do, we would still be working.

Do peope still have honor in this world. I am appalled by this.... In my book you should honor and support the people who have made YOU what you ARE today. When I saw the reports I said to myself, they only care about their own pockets, people dont count... They made their millions and thats all they care about... The little people dont count, what are they really......they are just puppets you use to make your millions.... Well guess what, without the little people, where would you be today NOWHERE.... THIS IS JUST BEING DISHONNEST, UNLOYAL, DISRESPECTFUL AND UNCARING....

Did anyone see the Rogers news report on this subject? I'm wondering why Dean Mackie was sent out to respond on the protest. Isnt he the Harley store CEO? I asked around and found out he has nothing to do with the transportation division of Mackies. This tells me that the upper brass involved were scared to respond in fear they may put their foot in their mouth. I asked around about this guy they hired to break the union, the word scumbag came up often. He will learn no doubt that his time is limited there. As for being called retards, I would have consulted a lawyer for slander.

If Mackie's is a family run business and we're considered a family member as employee's then I want a divorce!! I would never want to be considered a family member who treats family this way. Build a Family name an stand behind it. Well I hope my divorce releaves me from this Family name witch I was apart of building for over 20 years. "I know the support payments will never get paid"!!

We will probably have to pull teeth to recover any moneys owed.
Aswell, if you sign off on their offer, you will have NO right to be called back, nor will you be able to collect UIC because its the same as quiting your job. So we get screwed both ways.

I THINK ANOTHER PROTEST IS IN ORDER,AND IT MUST BE A BIG ONE!

First the VP of transportation calls us "retards", then today the GM of the Harley shop comes out at our protest today and says " you guys need to get a life". These verbal actions tells me that they are scared of what we are doing and stand for. Is the best that they can do? Just throw insults? Speak before they think????????

We were let go because of the Truck Plant shutting down, THE BROKERS DID THOSE LOADS PERIOD!
Another LIE out of the mouth of Mackie management. What else is new. How can you expect a glorified dispatcher to be the VP of transportation. You cant!
Karma is a bitch, and will come around to bite you in the ass! I cant wait for that!!!!!!

Not only did the VP of Transportation call us "RETARDS" and hooting and hollering like a kid(act ur age not ur shoe size) but he also said he would "black flag" us and that we would not be able to get a job in Durham Region. The next protest should be bigger and we should stop the trucks from coming in and going out to make their deliveries. As for the GM of the Harley shop saying "you guys need to get a life" we had a life and Mackies took that away from us because they want to break the union. It was a good company when the Mackie's ran it, now they have other people running the company it seems to be going into the toilet. They say there is no work for us but they bought a company in Scarboro and got a new warehouse and hired people to work there and didn't offer it to us because they want to break the union like I said b4.

I realize these drivers have a right to complain about being laid off or in a sence terminated, but look around you. Business have to make hard decisions to servive and this was probably one of those decisions that had to be made. I don't see anywhere in these comments about the flexibility of the union to take a wage freeze or a lower rate of pay to help the company. This family owned company has helped the Oshawa area for longer than I can remember and to state they have no loyalty upsets me. Business decisions should never be misconstrued as personal and I'm truly saddened by the way the economy has driven you guys out of work. You guys are hypocrites about the loyalty part in your comments. I'm sure in the 20 plus years of service that the company has always been there for you and have gone above and beyond for a few. Then when time are bad and you are laid off, the gloves come off and you show your loyalty to the company. It's a two way street hypocite. It's a cruel world out there. Get used to it.

I agree times are tough, but Mackies hasnt slowed down.Brokers who dont like the union are being fed all the work.Ask any of the company drivers who were let go, when was the last time you went to the truck plant? Answer will be not in a very long time. The excuse from Mackies is that GM closed the truck plant. This is a plan to decertify the union which comes up soon. This is a plan to get rid of the union so that they can make drivers work for minimum wage.
As for a wage freeze,we are paid by a contract that is fair.Mackies can spend millions of dollars to buy other companies and hire personal.
Trucks and trains bring everything you have in your home, and if you think for one second the company isnt busy, you must be blind.
This whole thing comes down to ONE thing. Get the union out!

GET REAL sounds like the typical Matt the "politician" reply.

If the Mackie family actually ran the place again THIS WOULDNT HAPPEN!
When a glorified dispatcher and a low life consultant think they run the place, something is dead wrong.
Im wondering, if I went up a flight of stairs, could I obtain a black eye?

Hey GET REAL.

People with 20yrs or more r laid off. The people below them r still working. That's the point I have a problem with. They can afford to buy a new warehouse in Mississauga and hire new people to work there and not offer the jobs to any of us.On the news Dean said the lay-offs were part of the closing of the truck plant.LIE LIE.We had a couple of truck plant deliveries and they were delivered by brokers. All this is about is breaking the union. If anybody is a hypocrite its u for not seeing the real truth behind closed doors. When I was driving truck for them I wish I had someone come up to me and give my shoulders a massage like certain people had done to them.

aswell, Mackies is telling the office staff that their jobs are in danger because of the union, LIES AGAIN! They will say anything to make the office people think that the union is the reason for shortage of work. INFACT, if the weasel in charge of securing the tenders would get off his derrier and REALLY TRY and secure work, the drivers would still be there and able to support their children and family.
How many MILLIONS did Mackies spend to purchase the land in Mississauga? A few and thats a fact.
The so called "consultant" in the corner office better wake up and open his eyes. The union isnt going any where.
As for the company being loyal to the drivers.
- If being screwed many times by dispatch.
- Getting lied to on a regular basis.
- Watching management turn over company trucks to brokers while we get sent home.
- Ripping drivers off for miles and delivery codes.
YES THEN THEY WERE LOYAL, LOYAL TO SCREWING US OVER AND OVER AGAIN!

Mackie's is going to need a real big shovel to dig them out of the shit pile that they r creating.Matt needs to get off his ass and find work so the other drivers can come back to work. One dispatcher told me that he would not be a very good dispatcher because he could not LIE,well we know how that is(HEAD DISPATCHER) plus don't get in her bad book cause then your screwed. The funny thing is that "TRUTH" has hit the nail on the head.I don't think Mackie is hurting that much if they can afford to buy the company in Scarboro and the land in Mississauga plus hire people to work in these places. If that's the case they need to get rid of the office people that they r paying to sit on their ass and do nothing. They need to FOCUS on finding work for their employee's rather than trying to break the UNION.
