Moncton.net Forum shut down by 'Goons"

Knightly News, Moncton, NB 2009 06 01 Robert McCall for Knightly News Moncton.net , a local community forum serving the greater Moncton area, was forced to shut down on Friday after repeated attack by so called 'Goons' from the 'somethingawful' forums located in the US. A roaming band of online cyber thugs lead by 3 people using the 'Nicks' of JackNapier, ZoSo and rainbowkittens, overwhelmed the local forum. At times the attackers numbered in the twenties posting libellous and defamatory articles.

As yet, the owners of Moncton.net have not been able to be reached for comment . Accessing the main site and then trying to reach the Forum, one is shown the following message :

Moncton.Net forum is unavailable until further notice.
It is very regrettable that certain individuals abused the free nature of the the forum.
Thank you for your participation and help.

On Sunday, the sites Chat Room was also shut down.

With no place to go, former members quickly opened up another forum called MonctonForums.com. http://monctonforums.com

Forum members of this new site who asked that their names or 'nicks' not be used said that it was secure and able to hold off any attacks from the so called Goons.

When asked why this new Forum could withstand attacks while Moncton.net could not , one member said that it's moderators could do more than simply delete inappropriate posts. He expressed frustration at being denied repeated pleas for the ability to ban attacking members and their IP addresses on the now defunct Moncton.net Forum.

Hmm that's weird. I do believe the closure was caused by a Moncton resident by the name of Dan Lirette threatening a Mr. Richard Kyanka with death. I would advise any coming into contact with Dan Lirette to be extremely cautious, as his douchebaggery is more contagious than swine flu.

Actually, good news person sir, I never once posted derogatory comments on the internet. However, because I posted a link on the SA forums Paladin and Dan Lirette believe I was spamming their forums.

They deleted my thread about Star Trek :(:(:( I was just talking about how it reminded me of Star Wars. How is that derogatory?

It amazes me that anything in this town whould be shut down by a frenchman's comments. Usually, when they open their grade two educated mouths, the entire province kisses their asses! How did one cockroach not manage to follow suit?
