Muskoka Lakes candidate's election signs stolen

The heated election race in Muskoka Lakes Township that has seen candidates put up hundreds and hundreds of signs has led to reports of thefts of some of them. They say that on September 9, 2014 there were multiple election signs stolen overnight from the same area near Harris Street on 118 West in Port Carling.

Gravenhurst legion celebrates 75th anniversary - Harry Wray would have been proud

A hundred years ago the First World War began, 75 years ago the Second World War started and the Gravenhurst legion opened on Bay Street. Starting with a noon-hour parade through downtown - "eyes right" at the cenotaph - led by the legion colour guard and Correctional Service pipe band, legion members, politicians, Rotarians, Lions, Girl Guides and Boy Scouts paraded down Muskoka Road to Veterans Way and up to Bethune Drive and Branch #302, where they were greeted by a couple hundred friends and supporters of all things legion.

Host families still needed for Japanese exchange students

According to Muskoka Language International home stay administrator Hannah Luke, the focus is for students from big cities across the globe to experience the small town Canadian lifestyle. The group of 56 students from Yokahama Soi High School in Yokahama, Japan will visit through a program at Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School from Oct. 14 to 22. Yokahama has a population of about 3,650,000.

" Group home counsellor found guilty of one assault charge

MUSKOKA A 54-year-old Huntsville woman who was charged with assaulting clients in a group home in Bracebridge in May, was found guilty of one of the four assault charges today, Sept. 2, at the Huntsville Courthouse.
