Alberta teen gets probation for stealing truck with baby inside

This will NOT teach the teen a lesson.....He gets off easy, and goes ahead and will commit another criminal act......Justice system is a bit of a farce....The baby could have died!

The worst part is, other teens will hear about it and not worry about consequences for their criminal actions. He could have stole a candybar and got the same 'sentence'- if he gets caught.
I think being put in time-out for 20 minutes would be just as effective.
House arrest for a few months would be more beneficial - like a legally binding grounding.
Don't forget to include the restrictions of use if any type of electronic devices during this time. Computer, TV, cell phone, gaming units, driving motorized vehicles all prohibited.
The malice of my sentence would be considered excessive 'cruel and unusual punishment'.
They need to put more creativity in what would be effective deterences for the rest of the teens to take notice of the consequences of their actions and, the impact that their actions have on others. That poor family that had their baby 'kidnapped', the devastating emotions involved.
Don't you dare get caught doing something criminal again...or we'll...give you 2 years of probation and, to be really mean, we'll add on 20 hrs of community service...ha!ha!ha!
