Weekend May Tell Truckers' Strike Impact

According to those who depend on the business of over-the-road truck drivers, a difference can already be seen in the dollars taken in from since a nationwide voluntary hauling strike of independent truckers ...

I hear ya it seems like the negative people are out in force or the people who drive like idiots are on these sites.
Personally I think these people are just trying to break the will of the trucker who faces hardships and tough roads ahead. They're worried this shutdown/strike is going to put them in a panic mode I guess, well too F'ng bad.
We are what we are by choice if they're worried about dog food, groceries etc. my advice to them is go about and buy a truck and good luck. You'll be shutdown well before we ever have. They don't see it that way, they just make innuendos/allusions about the truckers who chose this path.
Then there are many many of non-truckers who are in full support and I would personally like to thanks for your support and patience. That alone is well worth our effort to better ourselves and evryone else who believe in what we are doing.
Are we right? Do we have a choice? Some of us feel we are right and some just simply can't afford to continue. Right now I have the choice. For those who no longer have the choice can you afford to keep on hauling cheap freight with the high fuel costs? We always are told some of us haul cheap freight and the economy is good,I'm doing well yadda yadda yadda.

I am not a truck driver (used to be)and I just want to say I am all for this strike, if we all don;t do something the oil companies are going to kill us with fuel prices going up and up and it seems to me the only time the government wants to get involved is when you truckers start talking about a strike. Makes me wish I had a truck just so I could shut it down for a week or two!

Iam a small guy 2 trucks and 2 dry vans. I also have my own direct haul. I asked for increase...
the company didn't pay any attention to me.
I walked directly into the owners office and said mr. owner I can no longer afford to run my trucks and i am shutting down and walked out, I never looked back. I was really serious to.
30 mintues latter I got the call for the fuel surcharge. i got what I wanted...What ever you do in life you have to be serious. I was fully prepared to shutthem down and move forward. Just think If trucks were nenver invented,GOD would have other means to provide food for us... Have faith in the great creator...Thanks to God I always made good money in trucking. Its beacuse I never took trucking seriously. If its not trucking God will have somthing else for me.Just have faith in him don't BE SCARED TO STRIKE.

You may want to call your senator and congressman to explain the cost of diesel, and the 18 billion dollar tax break for the oil companies

If everyone starts calling their senator and congressman to explain the high cost of a by-product, and the 18 billion dollar tax break for the oil companies you may see more action.

Look, This IS not BUSH'S falt or the Clintons, or the oil companys. Remember everytime we trucker decide to sell our truck or van we want TOP DOLLARS for our worn out junk. Everytime someone sells their home they want top dollars. When was the last time some gave up somthing for nothing...
Oil companys are just like us they want top dollars for their oil... As along as they don't
force us to buy their oil, we really can't hate them. remember If you can't afford anything walk away from it. We do this all the time at the dealership. Remember when we can't afford a particular car, we simply move away from it... We never threten to strike at the dealership...
How about if someone threatens to strike against us when we sell our worn out rig for top dollars...
The real anger is from the fear we have created that, if we move away from trucking we will not be able to survive...Truth is we are afraid of change. Have faith in the creator, When you were a
single living cell inside your good mothers womb...It was him who looked after you,When we were
little fetus it was him who looked after us...So what make you thing that all of sudden you will starve to death if oil dosen't go down...If you want to strike, strike hard...Its ok if others don't join you...Mabee your little strike might make all the differanc in your world, that you were looking for... Don't hate Bush, clintons or the oil companys... I hope you find happyness...Iam an owner operator...It might come that I might have to strike all by my self... If thats what it wil take I will strike... I hope you the best and Iam with you....

You know who the strike would hurt most? The independent trucker. The guy working his tail off simply trying to meet his expenses. If this person were not to work for a week chances are decent it would be financially catastrophic.

Fuel prices aren’t a conspiracy against truckers. Fuel prices are hurting every industry and nearly every individual in this nation. Across the board prices are rising for the consumer.

There are only two solutions, cheaper oil or higher pay for truckers. Charge more to haul a load, parking your truck simply hurts you.

T'will be the trains that take over. How do I know this? I KNOW! You want an indication? Look at Burlington Northern railroad stock. It's going through the roof.

Better buy your shares NOW!

If you think trains are taking over, your smoking some good crack.
and the only reason the stock went up is because "Warren Buffett's investment company may boost its stake in Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp to 25 percent of the nation's second-largest railroad, according to documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission." thats the reason, not because they have done anything else.
