Maybe they should install a bright yellow break away bar that would go all the way across the road about a block from the bridge. That way when a truck hits it will make loud noise then let the yellow lights flash Then that would get the driver Attention before he gets to the bridge overpass.

In Charolettesville,VA they have the same problem with 12'4" train tressel in the middle of town it gets hit on average 3 times a month. they have tried lazers set with train horns at drivers door level, flashing yellow and red lights, even a cop set at the end of the street and they still keep hitting it. even raising the fines to $50,000 plus towing, repairs, city services, court costs have done nothing

The problem is some place messure from the ground up, some from the axle up, When a driver is looking for something like a address he will not pay attention to lights flashing,They will think it is for a school zone or that the driver might not read english well enough to understand there is a problem. When I drove for North American Van Lines when they had a Container division we had that same problem. Some of our divers could not read english well enough to understand warnings and they would top off the top of there trailers, How they got there CDL'S I never under stood it much less there jobs with North American Van Lines.
