Cafe Owner Invents 'Creffle,' Combining Crepe and Waffle

Tak, 44, who just opened his first cafe on the Lower East Side, spent three months experimenting before finally making what he believes is the perfect dessert: a "creffle," a cross between a Belgian waffle, French crepe and Chinese eggette . "It's crispy on the outside [and] it's light and fluffy on the inside," said Tak, who named his newly opened Creffle Cafe , at 115 Stanton St., after the invention.

Second Blaze pizza location opening in Louisville

The first Blaze restaurant in Louisville opened in June in a 2,300-square-foot space in Shelbyville Road Plaza. Brothers charged in Jim Brennan's death are indicted in gas station robbery

Two brothers charged for their roles in the death of Cleveland Heights restaurant owner Jim Brennan were indicted Monday and accused of robbing a gas station hours after Brennan was slain. A Cuyahoga County grand jury accused Devonne and Paul Turner of Cleveland with aggravated robbery in the heist at Gas Express at 3726 Clark Ave. on Cleveland's West Side on June 30. Officials said the men were captured on videotape.

Jacques Pepin says no slowing down as show ends

New Stokehouse wins green light

THE iconic Stokehouse restaurant, which was destroyed by fire in January, could be rebuilt within a year after Planning Minister Matthew Guy ticked off on the final design. The $11 million modern design will be almost three metres higher than the original wooden pavilion-style building and will include a number of sustainable design features.
