Live exporters impose voluntary three month pause on sheep to Middle East
Australian sheep will not be exported to the Middle East during next year's northern summer after the livestock industry announced a voluntary three month pause to the trade from next June. Pressure to end live sheep exports was ignited after shocking footage earlier this year revealed more than 2,000 sheep had died from overcrowding and heat stress while in transit from Australia to the Middle East in August last year.
