Merger has allowed Domtar to survive in era of dollar parity, says Royer

- Domtar CEO Raymond Royer said Monday the Montreal-headquartered paper company (TSX:UFS) would be facing a very difficult financial future in an era of dollar parity if it hadn't merged with the fine-paper assets of U.S.-based Weyerhaeuser.

The merger, completed six months ago, altered the face of the company from one with mills only in Quebec and Ontario to one better positioned to sustain wild currency fluctuations.

Eighty per cent of Domtar's assets are now located south of the border. Read more
