That's pretty sad actually. I was born in the mid 60's and at 18 I knew about WWII, the moon landings, JFK, The Beatles, the forgotten war, WWI, Prague Spring, and so on... Born in 1990 and can't remember Kurt Cobain? Jeez/

I was born in 1969. Never followed who was in what band. Didn't care, so I can see not knowing who Kurt Cobain was. I know the name Nirvana but didn't like them so why worry about who is in it. What teenager now really listens to that kind of music. I really had to watch what my niece listened to when she was with me. Radio really plays bad stuff now in the name of art.
