FORT WORTH -- Ben Watts, who has served as president and chief executive of the Carter & Burgess engineering and architecture firm for four years, will spend seven weeks taking the longtime Fort Worth company into the fold of Jacobs Engineering before he steps down at year's end.
Carter & Burgess was bought out Nov. 2 by Jacobs Engineering of Pasadena, Calif.
Watts, now 60, joined Carter & Burgess in 1997 as a senior vice president. He had been secretary of the Florida Transportation Department. Watts said that during buyout negotiations, he had agreed to stay on at Carter & Burgess for a year, but after a health scare about six weeks ago, he decided it was time to retire. He and his wife will return to Florida to be near their children and grandchildren. Read more
