American Airlines Considers A La Carte Pricing
The idea of paying a single, simple fare to fly on an airliner is becoming as quaint as stewardesses in short skirts.

Great idea. Pay for what you need. Don't think all that stuff was free before. It's just fares were able to cover it. I predicted after 9/11 that airlines would give fares away to get people back on the planes. People would then get spoiled and it would be nearly impossible to raise them back to the rate needed. Then unsuspected to me (and everyone else) gas went thru the roof. Everyone hated airline food. When it got away people went nuts. Now you'll get only what you pay for, like every other business

Take off $20, landing $15, lavatory use $3, water $4, use of oxygen mask $25, use of life preserver $50, window seat $10, aisle seat $15

You have one mistake. Use of the lavs if free. TP is $1 a square. |

I think I deserve two additional olives on my salad Mr. Crandall for speaking such a truthful comment. I am sick of fat people getting a free ride like you have been giving them. We need to be charged by the pound as I am a skinny person and for that matter have the option of sitting in even skinnier seats for less money as my width does not take up the width of jocks and body builder or fat people who spread out into other seats through there body mass. |

Or just plane big and tall men and women for that matter who are not necessarily fat.

I agree that airlines should charge people by the pound. If I have to sit next to a tubby traveler, I should be compensated.

Too bad Mr. Crandall retired some years ago.

Hey Continental
... thanks for the olives. It makes the salad a lot better. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/headline/... |

What do you mean "considering a la carte pricing"? The airlines ALREADY charge for anything extra, so what's to "consider"? Seems like they're already doing it!
