Just as the company can GIVE a bonus, without a union, nothing prevents them from "changing their mind" down the road and TAKING BACK the bonus.

What is it about a bonus that is guaranteed?

OK, tell me something. Has the pay/benefits for union members gone up or down in the last 15 years? Keep in mind union members pay dues from $47.00 up per month whether you are part time or full time.

but DL has worse health insurance
and they have

no double time if working holidays
no sick pay
no double time for overtime

in 15ys NWA employees still make more than DL
employees.

Yea right, you would be doing so much better if SCABAIR would have never had a union on the property in their history.. A true SCAB with no appreciation of what was fought and paid for by those before you..

Money Maker, I've seen you post this info on a few threads.

"but DL has worse health insurance
and they have

no double time if working holidays
no sick pay
no double time for overtime

in 15ys NWA employees still make more than DL
employees."

**Disclaimer**----not in ACS anymore

1. Health insurance comparison. Don't know how they compare.

2. ACS does get double time for holidays but I think it's only after the first 8 hrs or something.(not great if you ask me) or you can take a day in lieu of some other time. I always took a day off some other time instead.

3. Everybody gets sick time, varies by dept.

4. Overtime is similar to holiday pay.

Anyway, not very detailed info, but your info is way off.

um i dont think so.

double time on a holiday only after 8hrs pretty much equals no double time for holiday pay.

how often do you get offered more than 8hrs on a holiday?

i know NWA gets paid double time if you work on a holiday.

their insurance is worse than NWA's

at DL you get 5 personal days.

at NWA you earn 10hrs of sick time per month and it just keeps adding up.

I also understand you can only work a max of 6 days in a row you cant work more than that.

At NWA if you work on your first day off its time and a half up to 8 hrs ..double time after that.

Plus if you work a minimum of 4hrs overtime on your first day off any overtime on your second day off or in the case of 10hr employees you would get double time on both your 2nd day off and 3rd day off.

At NWA you can either work at double time or take the day off and get paid for it or you can work it but then use that holiday as part of your vacation accrual

NWA also gets 2 birthday days off and an anniversary day off. you can use those days anytime you want within the year.

so i think my info is pretty accurate as i know a DL employee who is in ATL.

what you posted matched my info in all areas except the sick time.

so my info isnt way off at all

Well, as I said, I'm no longer in ACS so I looked all that up on DeltaNet. I'm in no way saying that DL benefits are great but you make it sound like some third world job site. (possibly headed that way though) The sick time accrues per hours worked but I'm not sure about the max-out. Either way, there's definitely room for improvement. Thanks for the info from your side.

It doesn't matter how you look at it. Until either different departments vote in unions or all the unions are gone, everyone will be going to what Delta's standard benefits are... and none of them are very good. A 3% payraise? Pennies compared to what we have lost. But hey, we are grateful (!- hear that Richard!!!!) for anything we can get these days (or so we are told we should be anyway......). If and when this merger is complete, everyone at NWA can say goodbye to everything they think is soooooo much better than what we have. We will all be a part of the same incestuous family. Hopefully we can all pull together INSTEAD OF FIGHTING and try to bring some dignity and respect back to our frontline jobs! The golden days are over and will never return.....

Oh, let's not forget the pension/SS off-set at Delta, that's great: 2 separate funds treated as one. As for the bonus, it's actually a raise, I miss spoke. And for that...
without a contract the company can GIVE and the company can TAKE your pay with impunity.

This "they are good to us" attitude is nothing less than that found in a spousal abuse relationship. Don't let management define what is "good enough", let the flight attendants define what's good for them. If management is worth MILLIONS what do you think you're worth?

Look how well that worked out for the TWA,(all furloughed/never worked at AA?) and US Airways flight attendants in their mergers...or pilots for that matter. They didn't get to decide either. No guarantees.
Never have heard a former Western or Pan Am f/a complaining too much about being at Delta without a union. Not real sure your group will either. That is, if the vote doesn't pass...again.

Its interesting. I have tried to strike up a conversation at work with my DL co-horts but its really weird ...they are afraid to say anything like

how much they get paid
whats their vacation accrual
sick pay ...yay or nay?
whats their med/dental like

its almost as if they have been told not to talk to NWA employees.

Another reason to have a union behind you. You dont have to be fearful about discussing work issues.
