Alright travellers would you like fare for under $100 each way? Or do you want customer service? Because no matter how much you whine you won't get both. No matter how much I whine I cannot get a nice hotel for $50, I cannot eat at a nice resturant for $5, you get what you pay for.

That A-hole CEO just said this week that the airline was fine and didn't see any problems. No wonder the world hates this country. We are full of liars! The stockholders get screwed again.

With the open skies rules now starting to take effect, and foreign ownership rules relaxing, I predict these bankruptcies will only continue to spread.
However, upper management will continue to craft the rules so they will be paid huge sums of money no matter if their respective companies prosper or fail.

First Data increased its holdback, and the shareholders got f***ed. Even the people with frequent flyer points will be protected--the shareholders get f***ed. As a businessman whose wife's retirement accounts had a significant holding in FRNT, I will NEVER do business with First Data, KKR, or Wells Fargo, and neither will any of the many friends I will relate this to for the rest of my life.

To the dude from Largo, Fl. Go online and look at AllegiantAir.com . You must not get to Vegas too often. They are huge there - going to mid-size cities. They also have a big operation in Orlando. Take a look and their route map.
Also, like the guy from Texas, I would guess both of you spent a lot of time sleeping in English Class at school. You have never heard of Allegiant Airlines and I don't know what the word, "eithor" means..you may also want to check your spelling on happyness...I think the "y" should be an "i"...could be wrong....good luck!!!

I think Mesa is soon to go down...their stock is down to about .67, and Delta just cancelled their contract effective 5/1 - worth 20 mil a month. They are bleeding cash with GO in Hawaii and the Air Midwest operation is killing them since they are on a fixed contract with the government for all those EAS cities and are eating all the fuel increases. I think they are toast!

Air Tran is much stronger than Midwest, JetBlue, Allegiant and Mesa, but who knows what will happen.(Don't forget all the regional airlines who are flying around 50 seaters that don't make money and the majors are going to cut routes and/or contracts like Delta is doing and those airlines are on the edge as well).

Southwest is in the best shape of any airline and has 70% of 2008 oil hedged at $50.00. When all is said and done I'll bet we have WN, Delta, United and American left standing...the rest will die or be merged into one of the above. MANY small and mid-cities will be without air service!!

Allegiant is in good shape, mark my words, they will not go bankrupt, their business model is compleatly diffrent from the rest of the industry. Most of their costs are variable instead of fixed so they can affor to park planes and weather the storm. Southwest is in the best shape, the majors have enough money to last for a while, the LCC's are in trouble next, but I believe that several regionals flying CRJs will go first.

Adam - you may be right about Allegiant but they are flying MD-80's and some of their fares are very low - not a good combo. I have flown them and enjoyed the experience. I hope they make it.
The sad thing about this current situation is that the new/small airlines are offering some of the best service but of course they may not be strong enough to get through this mess. The entire industry is upside down right now and I am thankful I put in my years and retired when I did. I wish the best to those still in the business!!
