Congress grills Delta, Northwest CEOs

The CEOs of Delta Air Lines and Northwest Airlines defended their proposed $3.1 billion merger before a House committee Thursday, addressing lawmakers' concerns that the deal would stifle competition.

Merge baby merge! Then drop routes, planes and personnel get profitable. Stop flying tourist to tourist destination and start serving the customer who actually pays the true cost of flying, the business traveler. Memphis will be the first hub to go and not many business travelers will care.

I Don't understand. Fuel cost is the problem in the industry and they both said that the purchasing power will NOT be strengthened by the merger. So is the 1,000 or so admin jobs being lost going to eliminate a $10 billion loss?

This doesn't pass the sniff test to me.

It's so nice that management use's 9/11,record fuel cost's and greedy labor to strip pension's,wage's,health benefits,work rule's.While all along they will receive huge sum's of money each year in bonus's and wage's.Then report huge loss's each year.To lie under oath in front of congress.I will get down on my knees and that God the day one of these exec's in up in jail.Congress still has not got it.Just vote these people out of congress and the senate.
