YouTube - Jack and Hill

As a great example of the changes in the world of advertising, I was out on my LinkedIn looking for folks I should invite to my network and I found Josh Guttman at Sphere, and went to his blog, WaxingPhilosophic, where I found the video made by Jack Nicholson and posted on YouTube. It's a promotional video in support of Hillary Clinton's run for president. Enjoy!

Mike Musgrove - Outsourcing Music Videos to the Fans

Music videos aren't as hot as they once were, and they're expensive for producers to create. Then along comes the "heat" of online videos and editing tools, and music videos are revived. Now fans can upload the great online video of their favorite musicians and music and edit them as they see fit. They can even send them out to YouTube or other places where the music can be shared.

Mobile Ad Spending Projected To Top $19B By 2012

Global mobile advertising spend is expected to be 5-6 times as many dollars in 2012 as in 2007, with Asia-Pacific market being the most prolific users. The primary reason for this increase is the use of text messageing for advertising purposes. A number of new mobile ad products are turning up, especially in the classified market. Companies such as Cell Signs and SMS Pal are working with newspaper publishers to offer a mobile medium to their print and Web products. Perhaps the best example of this newspaper move to mobile is the Palm Beach Post. On the site, www.pbpost.com, you can post, search or get alerts about classified and marketplace ads, get hurricane and other important news alerts, and just peruse the site.

Scared & Excited

Innosight's Scott Anthony addressed newspaper executives and industry vendors for the second time at the Spring Publishers' Conference of Suburban Newspapers of America (SNA.) Anthony's motivational ideas on disruptive innovation and newspaper evolution spurred attendees to team creation of several new online products to drive traffic and advertising dollars to their Web sites and perhaps even via mobile and print products as well.
