NEW YORK (Reuters) - Work colleagues who spend their day gossiping, organizing their home lives, or who press "reply all" on e-mails are among the biggest nuisances in the office, according to a survey released on Monday.
A poll on the biggest pet peeves in the workplace by market researcher Harris Interactive found 60 percent of 2,429 U.S. respondents listed gossip as the biggest annoyance.
The online survey, conducted for staffing firm Randstad USA, found the second biggest peeve at 54 percent was poor time management which included people making personal phones calls at work or surfing the Internet during work time. Read more

Google chief optimistic DoubleClick deal will get done

MOUNTAIN VIEW, California (Reuters) - Google Inc Chief Executive Eric Schmidt said on Wednesday his company is working closely with regulators and that he was optimistic its proposed $3.1 billion acquisition of DoubleClick will be approved.
Speaking to reporters following the company's Analyst Day meeting with Wall Street investors, Schmidt was asked whether he was confident government regulators would approve the deal.
"We are optimistic that this will close," Schmidt said of the ultimate approval of the DoubleClick deal. But he said the decision was in the hands of regulators and he had no control over the timeline. Read more

- Advertising and marketing firm WPP signed a deal Wednesday to acquire Vancouver-based Blast Radius in a bid to expand its digital marketing business.
Financial terms of the deal were not released. Gurval Caer, president and chief executive of Blast Radius, a specialist in interactive marketing, said the deal will allow his firm to tap into the global power of WPP, one of the world's largest communications and marketing firms.
"Partnering with a company that has been doing this for 30 or 40 years, that has the relationships, that has the credibility, is going to help us a lot in bringing those interactive ideas to the highest level in our clients," said Caer, 37, who will remain with the firm. Read more
