Ex-Ferris broker pleads guilty to fraud
A former Ferris Baker Watts broker has pleaded guilty to helping a client carry out a multimillion-dollar stock manipulation scheme.
Stephen J. Glantz, who left Ferris in 2005 after stints in the firm's Ohio and Maryland offices, accepted a plea agreement that recommends he serve between 27 and 33 months in prison for one count of securities fraud and one count of lying to investigators about his role, according to a U.S. attorney in Cleveland. He was arraigned in Cleveland yesterday and is free on bail. Read more

Parents worry about Web but don't stop kids' use

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Most U.S. parents said their children had encountered "issues" like bad language, sex or advertising online over the past year, but they are not stopping their kids' Internet use, according to a new study.
A survey by market researcher Harris Interactive of 411 parents of children aged between 6-18 who use the Internet found 71 percent admitted their child had encountered at least "one issue" with the Internet within the past year.
But four out of five parents said the Internet helped their children in school and only three in 10 parents -- or 31 percent -- said their children spent too much time online. Read more

The company that measures TV viewership announced a significant expansion Wednesday, saying it would triple the number of 'Nielsen families' over the next four years to keep better track of new ways of watching television.
Nielsen Media Research said it wants 37,000 homes, with 100,000 people, reporting on its viewing habits by 2011. That's about triple the current sample size of 12,000 households with 35,000 people.
'The larger you make it, the more stable the data, the more precise the data,' said Sara Erichson, executive vice president for client services at Nielsen North America, 'and that's a very important thing for the industry, which uses this information for currency.' Read more
