Seems Bush's economic stimulus plan is working. Today McCain will agree saying "Our economy is doing great, people are losing their jobs and....HEY, wait a minute?"

When Bush kept saying "we're turning the corner" did he mention he was driving backwards?

When Bush paints a rosy picture, expect the picture to be bleak. Bush is a campaigner, and as in campaigns, he thinks if he says it enough people will believe it.

But as in campaigns, eventually your promise becomes a task that needs to be delivered. Bush forgets taht part.

Ya gotta love the spin.

Unemployment SOARs to 5.5%

Give me a break, Doesn't that mean we have 94.5% employment. Pretty good eh?

I wish the Doctor could tell me "We have a 94.5% chance of curing your cancer".

Or a 94.5% chance of hitting the lottery.

What baseball player wouldn't kill to get on base 94.5% of the time.

Just keep track of the spin with the same numbers if a dim get into the Whitehouse

Still a long ways from the unemployment rate of 7.5% and inflation rate of 12% under Jimmy Carter! Puts it into perspective doesn't it?

Then why do I have such a hard time finding employees with half a brain? If there are that many unemployed then there must be some smart ones out there but I'm left with resumes that read (in part): "I'm well to identify, analyzes and solves problems". No lie - that's from an actual cover letter sitting in front of me right now and that's not even counting the multiple spelling mistakes.
Before you ask - no I'm not offering minimum wage and yes we have an above average benefits package.
Rant over - thank you!

because the American education system produces McDonalds employees. Ever put one in a situation where they have to calculate your change? They get that deer in your headlights look and after a minute or so call the manager

5.5% doesn't seem like a whole lot . . . HOWEVER it's a DIFFERENT world today. People USED to have money to fall back on during the lean times. Now all they have are their charge cards, which are slowly getting maxed out. Some people WITH JOBS have already lost their homes. For people who live paycheck to paycheck, losing a job is a DESPERATE situation.

And your point is what? Bush is doing pretty good?

Bush has turned a once proud party of Repubs into a bunch of defensive fearful little children.

Point out an area of improvement and they'll go back 20 Presidents to find one that will allow them to say "I know I am, but what are you...naah nanna naah naah"

Put a Democrat in the White House and the rate will be 10%. They've simply undermined every American interest for four decades, hobbling US companies, funding and empowering foreign interests and refusing to penalize US companies for outsourcing.

It is not spun enough

Actually, everyone knows the unemployment rate the govt releases is always lower than reality ... This number does not include people that no longer are getting benefits, part-time jobs, and under employed individuals. The true unemployment rate is probably closer to 10%. I know quite a few college grads working for 10 bucks and hour ... Now, that is the American Dream.

If your kid can't calculate change, blame the parents. Seriously, we didn't always blame others for our childrens shortcomings.

What did they do to increase the rate? Serious question, since you're blaming them and not the person who put forth the plan.
