Estrada keeps title dreams alive despite tough setbacks
“How many fighters get ranked No. 2 in the world without a manager or promoter? I did that on my own.'There's not too many people I trust. Now I have a team. I am focused and on a mission and going after the belts.”
David Estrada is the comeback kid.
Since he turned pro in October 1999, the Hollywood fighter has lost four fights that would have led to title opportunities.
His last loss was to Miami-born Haitian Andre Berto, who scored an impressive 11th-round TKO for the NABF title that was also a WBC and IBF eliminator Sept. 29, 2007.
It was a wake-up call for Estrada, who said he is ready to climb back into the stacked welterweight division.
The new-and-improved Estrada (21-4, 12 KOs) will make his Seminole Hard Rock Live Arena debut tonight on ESPN2's Wednesday Night Fights Knockout Kings card. He will fight Colombian Alexander Pacheco Quiroz (14-5-1, 12 KOs). Read more
