Irving takes Serbia to school

Maybe it's LeBron James that will have to adjust more to playing off the ball this season, because Kyrie Irving is going to need it quite a bit. Irving arrived at USA Basketball training camp in Las Vegas on July 28, looking sharper than any of the other 30 guys in the gym.

The Detroit Pistons center played the final 41 2 minutes of Sunday's gold-medal game at the FIBA World Cup, scoring six points, grabbing two rebounds and blocking one shot as t he Americans routed Serbia 129-92 in Madrid, Spain. Drummond didn't enter the game until Team USA had built a 120-81 lead with 4:38 left.

Derrick Rose held to 4 points, but Team USA headed to final

After having what appeared to be his breakout game of the FIBA World Cup in Tuesday's quarterfinal win over Slovenia, it was once again Derrick Rose back to his suddenly passive self on Thursday, scoring just four points on 1-for-8 shooting in the 96-68 semifinal win over Lithuania. Thanks to 16 third-quarter points by James Harden, as well as a team-high 18 points from Kyrie Irving, Team USA will now play in the gold medal game on Sunday, facing the winner of Friday's Serbia-France game.

It took the Americans about a half before they could solve the Lithuanian puzzle but when they did, Team USA delivered another convincing blowout victory with a final score of 96-to-68 over Lithuania in the semifinal round of the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain. Team USA now advances to the final against the winner of the France-Serbia tiff, which is scheduled on Saturday .

With both Australia and Brazil being eliminated from the FIBA World Cup it means that both Anderson Varejao and Matthew Dellavedova are finished representing their countries and will be able to turn their attention back to the Cleveland Cavaliers . What Kyrie Irving Can Take from FIBA World Cup for Cleveland Cavs' Season

Basketball World Cup , Irving has joined the likes of Derrick Rose , James Harden , Anthony Davis, Stephen Curry and others in their quest to bring America back gold. After three years playing alongside a young, developing core with the Cleveland Cavaliers , Irving now finds himself with a championship-caliber roster led by LeBron James, Kevin Love, Dion Waiters, Shawn Marion, Anderson While Irving's participation has helped Team USA off to its 7-0 start, his experiences and knowledge gained will hopefully carry over to the It's easy to point at Irving and say that his job is, well, easy now that he'll be playing alongside James and Love.

Shawn Marion officially signs with Cavs

The Cavaliers added more championship experience Tuesday with the official signing of veteran forward Shawn Marion, who agreed to terms in the middle of August. The 36-year-old Marion, who signed what is believed to be a one-year contract for the veteran minimum of $1.4 million, won an NBA title with Dallas in 2011.
