Reasonable Expectations For Jeff Teague, Or, A Rookie Guard Study
Not that anyone is expecting great things from Jeff Teague in the short term, nor that anyone is especially expecting him to play a lot* in 2009-10 but I still believe it's instructive to look at what players in circumstances similar to Teague's have accomplished in their rookie seasons.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The moves are coming so quickly around here these days, you might mistake this for a regular NBA offseason.
Name: Acie Law IV Team: Golden State Last seen in Vegas: Law was back as a second-year vet with the Hawks last summer.
Hawks general manager Rick Sund doesn't have enough hands for all the phones he'll need for keeping things straight this month in free agency.
The standard line teams use after the NBA draft is that you need to wait two or three years to grade the winners and losers.
A month ago, I would have been unequivocally upbeat about getting Jeff Teague, possessor of both significant offensive talent and significant, realistic room for improvement, with the 19th pick of the NBA Draft.

2008-09 Season Review: Al Horford
Al Horford's season is fairly straightforward to recap: He's a delight to watch on both ends of the floor, he's not a big enough part of the offense, and that fact combined with the time he missed due to injury might have obscured the encouraging and, one hopes, significant improvements he made in his second year in the league.
Hawks could go in several directions in draft
The Los Angeles Clippers won the NBA lottery Tuesday and wasted no time announcing they plan to take Oklahoma power forward Blake Griffin with the top overall pick in the June draft.
2008-09 Season Review: Rick Sund
Considering both the ownership situation and his brief tenure I'm going to give Rick Sund the benefit of the doubt for the time being.
Acie Law IV is game-time decision. It's not been reported* anywhere so I can't link to anything but it appears that Marvin Williams will start tonight.
Speedy Claxton to return for Hawks' home finale
It's been a long time since Hawks fans have seen Speedy Claxton on the court. They'll get their chance Tuesday.
