Some posters in this forum have promoted the idea of Ron Santo in the HOF. Seriously??? I grew up watching him and, honestly, never thought he was star material.(My husband, who knows more about baseball than I ever will, tells me Santo was average at best.)
I wonder to what degree the sympathy factor plays a role in people's wanting him elected to the Hall. Yes, he has battled diabetes for years; it's a horrible disease that has nearly killed him. But that shouldn't influence the voting. If he doesn't have the stats, it is what it is. |
