DeRo.........

The Indians will play at Wrigley June 19-21, not in May.

Wrong...it is going to be a turn back the clock series. H.G. Wells, Kurt Vonnegut, and Michael Crichton are going to do duets with Harry etc. |

Call me sentimental, but I miss DeRosa more than you can imagine. He was an all-around good guy: Versatile, dependable, and always a good attitude. I respected him, unlike many of the Cubs' so-called "stars" of the past 10 years or so.
To trade him and end up with the tripe we came out with (Freel, Miles, Bradley) is insulting. I think it was time for Wood to go, although I always liked him, but DeRo has a lot more play in him. |

i dont mind seein DeRo take broke @$$ danks yard though either hahahaha
worst rotation ever. ps...sox are goin for their record pace 9th shutout in the 7th inning right now bein shutdown by Cy Pavano lol what a jokeeeeeeee |

Ask Hendry if the Indians would be willing to trade DeRosa back to the Cubs for Sammy Sosa and steroids.

Kenny Williams is a really good guy! The Sox are made up of really good people, Dye, Konerko, Thome, and so on. Meanwhile, the Yankees have signed, Mark Texiera, a really good guy, first baseman and good hitter. CC Sabathia, a really good pitcher and good guy! Derek Jeter, a really good guy and good player! Sometimes all you need is love and money! Pittsburgh traded away their centerfielder and All-Star for some minor leagers. The rest of the players are not happy, as is their fan base! Chicago, needs happier, well payed players or else championships will happen every 86 or 101 years! Put some money in Reinsdorf, Boras just has a better hand than you! Deal with it!

It is easier to hit in the American League than the National League. Country hardball. Another instance in which the myth of the American League's superiority is debunked.

Don't know about Hendry, but a lot of fans sure miss Woody as a closer.

The Cubs could have offered arbitration to Wood, and he wouldn't have ended up making more than $7-8 million for one year as I'm sure he would have accepted it to stay. He deserved the respect of the Cubs, and they stepped on his face. It'd be nice to have him now, wouldn't it?
Then there was the obvious dumb trade of the decade, trading Mark DeRosa, who was pretty much our team MVP last season. And everyone wonders why we're in 4th place? If it's not broke, you don't fix it, especially with other teams' garbage. If the Cubs were smart, they'd be putting together some type of package to trade for Wood (the Indians would sell low) and DeRosa (before his stats really get good). You could plug in Wood immediately as the closer and then you'd have Marmol, Gregg, Guzman, and maybe Heilman as good tools for the bullpen. On top of that, DeRosa could play 3B until Ramirez came back next month, at which time he could spell him at 3B (he'll most likely need days off or will have another injury during the next three months), play 2B, and play RF against LHP's. He could also play LF sometimes or when Soriano has an inevitable injury to his knee. But wait a minute, that would make sense, wouldn't it? It'd make more sense than trading for Jake Peavy, who is average at best outside of Petco Park. But since our GM doesn't seem to really care about winning, don't hold your breath. I'm waiting for some trade of Fontenot or Fox for a broken down reliever with a 5.83 ERA at the deadline. But hey, we'll save money!!! Keep up the great work!!! |

I still miss DeRosa and would love to have him back, now! Although Wood wasn't my favorite pitcher, I have a lot of respect for him. He went through a lot to get back to being able to pitch. I'd take him back in a minute too. I'd give the Indians~Bradley and Soto.

DeRosa was romanticizing Hendry's lover - now he gone!!!

I suppose when your team is shut out nine times through 6/5, nothing seems to matter anymore. |

DeRosa could not have 37 RBI on the Cubs with his batting stats. RBI reflect (in large part) the OBP of the guys hitting in front of you, and the guys batting in front of DeRosa have had outstanding OBP, near or even above 0.4. However, two of them now are hurt, so DeRo will not be getting as many RBI unless he magically turns into Babe Ruth.
In contrast, as of the last weekend, the Cubs have had the fewest ABs with runners in scoring position of any NL team. Very few run-scoring opportunities means very few RBI. |
