Trout, Weaver lift Angels to win over Astros
The Astros couldn't touch anything the Angels' Jered Weaver threw, while Scott Feldman couldn't throw Angels center fielder Mike Trout anything he'd miss. Two of the Angels' best carried them Saturday in a 5-2 win over the Astros, a loss that still counts as one of the most compelling games they've been a part of this year.

Carter tweaked approach before going on tear
Despite the tear he's been on for 2 1/2 months, Astros designated hitter Chris Carter has drawn just five intentional walks. Two came Friday night, when Angels manager Mike Scioscia ordered Carter to be passed in the first inning and the fourth.

Wildness by Oakland relievers Ryan Cook and Fernando Abad helped the Houston Astros score two ninth-inning runs without a hit and beat the A's 4-3 before 25,533 at the Coliseum on Sunday. Nate Freiman slammed a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the A's a 3-2 lead, and Luke Gregerson pitched a scoreless eighth.

When the Astros fired Bo Porter a few people in the baseball media used the opportunity to fire the latest round of shots at the team, a seemingly endless criticism and damnation of the team and its front office. I'm not sure if some people just have an axe to grind or if there is some statue of limitations that hasn't run out yet on tanking, but if folks who follow baseball outside of Houston haven't noticed, the Astros aren't tanking anymore.
