Please keep miles down in iowa or DFA him. He does nothing for this team. Get rid of him.

I believe Andres Blanco is out of options and would have to clear waivers in order to be sent to the minors. Not sure the Cubs would want to do that with less than a month to go before rosters expand. I would imagine that they designate Aaron Miles or Jeff Baker for assignment or send one of the pitchers down to make room.

Please put Guzman in the closer spot please.

Samardzija has been ineffective? He IS ineffective. Keep Blanco up and send Miles to a hot dog stand or something. Gimmie a break.
Tony...you won the stupid post of the day award. Congrats Now shut Up! |
Send down Samardzija and for the love of God, leave Aaron Miles in Iowa
What is stupid about his post? Miles has been AWFUL this year. |

Finally another catcher on the team to replace the slugging .199 Koy Hill!

aaron miles is pitiful
great admiration for the job Koyie has done... Even if Soto hits .250 with a lil pop (which i expect him to do more than that), it will be a welcome upgrade that will move fontenot to the 8th hole and our lineup just keeps getting better... imagine as a pitcher getting through the first inning with 4 batters thinking about how tough it was to retire Fukudome/Riot/Lee/Aram...then you go back out there and you got Bradley/Soriano/Soto and then it basically starts all over. keep it up 2nd half cubbies! Randy 'The Prodigy' Wells for ROY too bad we couldnt get him wins early, his record should easily be at least 11-3 |

I hate to be continuous critical; however, i can't take anything positive from this article. First of all, i get sick of hearing Pinella talk like he had no other options at catcher, than to use Hill for 24 games in a row. Jake Fox is a catcher, and probably one of the best power hitters on the team; yet, Pinella would rather sit Fox game after game while Hill flirts with the Mendoza line.
Secondly, now the Cubs have to send down another of it's young guys in Blanco to make room for another of Hendry's off season blunders. To think the Cubs and Cards basically switched infielders in DeRosa for Miles is freaking criminal for the Cubs. Thanks alot Hendry !!!!! Thirdly, Zambrano has made it clear already, that he's not a reliever, and whether the team needs him to help out or not, find someone else. Pay a guy 90 mil. dollars and they basically tell you what they will or won't do. Just a really unlikable bunch of guys on this Cub team, which is why it's been hard for many of us long time Cub fans to warm up to this group. That said, for at least one positive, Andrew Cashner, the Cubs top pick in the 08 draft is starting to consistently look real good. Pitching for the Tennessee Smokies, which is in the town which i live, i've been able to follow him pretty closely. He's hitting the mid-90's now with his heat, and has a nice breaking ball to go with it. I think if he could polish it off with a nice change-up, we Cub fans might be seeing what we were hoping Samardzjia would be, by the year 2011. |

Someone in Iowa please hit Miles in the knee with a bat, find some way to keep him out of the MLB lineup.

Another Nothing with a thought I see Posting here Catchers are notorious for off years! Is the position. foul tips, injuries and just the day to day grind of the position. Johnny Bench one of the greatest ever in his PRIME had off years Hitting .238 in 1971 .253 in 1973 .234 in 1976 .260 in 1978 and .250 in 1980. Second he has been hurt and has the Sophomore Jinx working too. He handles pitchers exceptional well is solid defensively and will hit just fine over time. And you sir no nothing! Good to above average catcher do not grow on trees! |
Ummmmm, you do realize that Tony and everyone else is talking about Aaron Miles don't you? Miles plays second base, he's not a catcher and he sucks. Sending Henry Blanco down to bring up Miles is not a good idea. |
Whoops! I meant sending ANDRES Blanco down to Iowa to bring up Aaron Miles is not a good idea.....
? Has anybody even mentioned Geovany Soto on this board yet? "And you sir NO nothing"? Really? You might want to make sure THAT statement is grammatically correct before you type it next. |

There has got to, just got to be a way to keep Miles from getting back on this roster. Does anyone here think it is any coincidence that the team began playing better once he was removed from the lineup (which Lou insisted on inserting him into every day mind you)? Here is your answer-No. There just has to be a way. I know Hendry is stupid, and I know Lou has thrown in the towel, but you would think between the two of them there is a little baseball sense left. They have to know Miles is a bad bad player and does nothing but hurt this team. They have to...right?
As far as Hill, I too admire the grit he has shown. He does handle pitching staffs well and the record with him playing seems to be pretty good. So, if he hits .200 and the Cubs win, who cares. His defense and handling the staff is the priority. |

Well, it goes without saying that everybody wants Geo back. He has another rehab stint and he comes back at the end of this week I believe. What we're all freaking out about is having Aaron Miles come back. Andres Blanco plays better defense blindfolded than Miles does, and although it's not the strongest part of his game, Blanco can hit better than Miles. Plus he has more speed. Anybody know how to contact those guys that whacked Nancy Kerrigan's knee in the olympics a while back? |
I would rather a dog fart in my face than to watch Aaron Miles play baseball.
Will Soto be returning this time, in shape, at weight and drug free? That goof showed up this year thinking he could do just that---show up---and all the magic returns...not with that pot belly, attitude and outlook.
Interesting that Hendry himself is in TN to "watch" him...whats he watching, his waist? Pick it up and get with it this time Soto or find a new line of work. |
What has Aaron Miles shown? He's useless. Send him to the Ryan Freel scrap heap. Does he have pictures of Hendry?
