Padres pound Mujica in 10th
CLEVELAND: Where is Jensen Lewis when you need him? Sadly for the Indians, he is relearning a few lessons at Triple-A Buffalo.

OUCH! I guess we should be happy having had a 2-game win streak for once!

KD how about that continued demise of Cliff Lee? Where are you coward???

So much for quality at bats.

When Wedge brought in Mujica, I thought Uh Oh. The 10th inning in a tied game is not the place for Mujica. He hasn't gotten anyone out since he was brought up. You can place part of the blame for this one on the manager

Please Tribe please win so Wedgie won't go Incredible Hulk on us!
I'm glad the Tribe doesn't play the Cards this year. Ryan Ludwick would hit 7 homers in a 3 game series and knock in 24! Those ex players all love the Tribe! |

The Indians will NOT win with this team. Too many are taking the best pitch they are going to get when hitting. Maybe, it's because they have to "work" the pitcher rather than going up there looking for one good pitch to hit. Wedge is right about one thing. NONE of the hitters go up to the plate with any type of clue of where they can hit the ball or what to look for. They're just "playin" for big bucks. So, who's to blame? Oh well, maybe we'll get rid of some of these stiffs come trade deadline time and we can start again. We'll have some decent pitching despite the fact of losing C. C. and Byrd. Oh well, we used to say this slogan after opening day in the 70's...Wait Til Next Year...but, it might be even worse!

Two questions come to mind. The first is, why hasn't Mujica been released? I remember him being good a few years ago, and not since, either in Cleveland or in Buffalo or Akron.
The second is, where was Bauer? Or, why could Slocum pitch last night in the minors, but not be available to be called up? In other words, how could the Tribe ever be left with Mujica as the only resort? Not that a team that gets only four hits deserves to win, but this loss was another clown act. Oh, and, as to Gerut, when he was here, he tried to pull everything. He should NEVER see a pitch that he can hit hard to right. He never did in his last year here, which is why he ended up being dumped. |

I realize the Indians were playing shorthanded last night, but I think we have to give a lot of credit to San Diego's Baek, the starting pitcher. After an absolutely horrendous first inning, he was lights out for the rest of the time he pitched. He did a brilliant job of changing speeds and locations. He really did his job---giving his team a chance to win. Cliff Lee did a good job as well, especially on a night when his command was sub-par. He definitely deserves a spot on the American League All-Star team.
